This artwork emerged from my exploration of genetics and the hidden world of microscopic organisms during Ayatana’s Biophilium Species Residency.
Through a series of 30 watercolour paintings, I explored the unseen forms of life that exist around us and within us. Watercolour was never a medium I naturally gravitated towards, yet under the microscope, life itself appears to exist within water. I became fascinated by the unexpected vibrancy of these tiny organisms, their colours, movement, and delicate existence.
Through this series, the water became an active participant in the process, carrying pigment and creating moments of chance. The paintings became a reflection of the fragile, ever-changing pulse of life that exists beyond what the eye can see.
